Jimmy Kimmel has taken aim at Donald Trump for missing his son’s wedding in the Bahamas, joking that the president was avoiding a trip to a private island linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Donald Trump Jr married Bettina Anderson on Saturday in a ceremony attended by 40 guests, none of whom were his father.
On Truth Social, Trump said he “very much wanted” to attend but felt it was “important” to remain in Washington during “this important period of time”. Kimmel noted the president’s regular golf outings and UFC appearances, and joked: “Flying to a private island makes him miss his friend Jeffrey.” He also remarked on Trump’s marital history, saying “he’s had three of them himself”.
A larger celebration is expected at the White House in the fall. Kimmel quipped: “Well, you’d hope so, they live there. Can you imagine if they didn’t show up to that one, too? ‘We wanted to make it, but we were unable to go downstairs.’”
The late-night host then turned to Iran, saying Trump was “stuck in [the war] like a pig in a vat of chocolate pudding”, and joked that the “Fifa peace prize” apparently meant nothing to him. He also criticised Trump’s Memorial Day message, which described “Dumbocrats” while honouring fallen service members.
Kimmel addressed the president’s latest physical examination, saying: “Everything checked out PERFECTLY.” He questioned whether Trump knows he is going to hospital for the checks, comparing it to tricking a dog into a vet visit. Finally, he reacted to a video of Robert F Kennedy Jr handling snakes, exclaiming “They’re trying to bite him!” before noting that Kennedy was bitten multiple times and appeared to treat the snakes like yo-yos or Twizzlers.
