The 67-year-old, born Brian Gerard 'Kato' Kaelin, married Nan Xue Kaelin on September 17, 2021. Background and Fame from OJ Simpson Trial

Kaelin gained widespread recognition during the 1995 OJ Simpson murder trial, often referred to as 'the trial of the century.' He was living in a guest house at Simpson's Brentwood mansion on the night of the murders of Simpson's ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman on June 12, 1994. Kaelin, a friend of Nicole Brown, testified against Simpson, casting doubt on Simpson's whereabouts that night.

His testimony was crucial: he stated that he and Simpson ate McDonald's at Simpson's home that evening, and he last saw Simpson around 9:30 p.m. Prosecutors alleged that Simpson killed Brown and Goldman between 10:00 and 10:30 p.m. Kaelin also testified to hearing sounds on the property later that night, which prosecutors attributed to Simpson's return. Additionally, he noted that Simpson was wearing a dark blue shirt earlier but had changed when Kaelin saw him later, linking to blue cotton fibers found at the crime scene.

Life After the Trial

Following Simpson's acquittal in October 1995, Kaelin capitalized on his fame, appearing in numerous talk shows, sketch comedy shows like Mad TV and Mr. Show, and films such as BASEketball. He continues to be a regular interview guest regarding the Simpson case and has more film projects in development.

Simpson died in April 2024 after battling cancer. Kaelin hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and began his entertainment career while at the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire, hosting a talk show and game show for a local station.
