Legal Expert Weighs In on Lee Andrews' Dubai Imprisonment as Katie Price Visits

A legal expert has provided insight into the case of Lee Andrews, the husband of Katie Price, who is currently detained in a Dubai prison. Andrews was arrested on what has been described as a 'civil matter', contrary to his initial claims of 'espionage'. Price has travelled to Dubai and visited the prison multiple times to secure his release, which reportedly requires a payment of over £100,000.

Awatif Al Khouri, of Awatif Mohammad Shoqi Advocates & Legal Consultancy, explained that in the UAE, a person may be arrested if they are wanted for a criminal case or if an arrest order is issued for breaching a civil court order. The criminal process begins with a police complaint, followed by an investigation and trial, during which bail may be granted with conditions such as a travel ban.

If convicted, penalties can include fines, imprisonment, or deportation. In civil matters, an execution judge may release the debtor upon paying a portion of the outstanding debt, with the remainder to be paid within a specified period. The exact amount depends on the case.

Price has been updating fans on her efforts, stating she is 'absolutely knackered' and plans to collect Andrews' belongings from prison. She has also been trying to secure a visit, but time is limited as she is due to leave Dubai on Friday.

Andrews had previously gone missing and claimed he was kidnapped, but it later emerged that his detention is related to a civil matter. The situation remains ongoing, with Price seeking answers about her husband's ordeal.
