Katie Price is set to be called as a witness when her ex-husband Kieran Hayler faces trial on child sex charges. Hayler, 39, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on May 21, where it was confirmed that his trial will proceed in October.
Hayler is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl on three occasions and one count of sexual assault. The alleged offences occurred while he was still married to Price at her former home in West Sussex. The victim, now aged 23, cannot be named for legal reasons.
During the brief court appearance, Hayler, dressed in a blue suit, white shirt and grey tie, only spoke to confirm his name. A legal representative previously denied the allegations on his behalf, stating: 'Kieran Hayler strongly denies the allegations made against him in its entirety. He looks forward to his name being cleared.'
Hayler, a former stripper and reality TV star, met Price in 2012 and proposed on Christmas Day. They married at a luxury Caribbean resort the following year, and Price purchased a £1.35 million house in 2014. The couple later separated.
Police confirmed the charges in a statement, noting that the victim has received support from specially trained officers. The trial is expected to hear evidence from Price, who was married to Hayler at the time of the alleged offences.
