Alan Ritchson, the star of Amazon Prime Video's 'Reacher', will not face criminal charges following a violent altercation with his neighbour in Tennessee, after police concluded he acted in self-defence.
The Brentwood Police Department said on Tuesday that an investigation, including video footage and witness statements, determined Ritchson's actions were in self-defence. The actor also declined to pursue a potential reckless endangerment charge against the neighbour, Ronnie Taylor.
Footage obtained by TMZ showed Ritchson striking Taylor multiple times as Taylor knelt on the ground, with Ritchson's two children nearby. However, police said the video was edited and omitted the start of the incident. Bodycam footage later released showed Taylor rushing into the street in front of Ritchson's motorbike, causing Ritchson to go over the handlebars. After a verbal exchange, Ritchson returned to his bike, but Taylor followed and shoved him, leading to the physical confrontation.
Taylor admitted to TMZ that he pushed Ritchson after asking him to stop making noise on his motorbike. The case is now closed with the agreement of the District Attorney's Office.
