Kayley Stead, the 31-year-old from Swansea who famously went ahead with her £12,000 wedding alone after being jilted at the altar, has announced her engagement to new partner Richard Perrot. The couple, who reconnected in February 2024, are planning to marry in 2028.
Richard proposed on 27 May at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David campus, where the pair first met over a decade ago. Kayley admitted she was initially unaware of the plan and kept asking when they would get lunch. After he got down on one knee, they celebrated with a Domino's pizza.
Kayley said she has learned to trust again, describing Richard as 'different' and noting that she trusts both him and his family. The proposal ring is a family heirloom from Richard's grandmother, believed to be over 65 years old.
Planning a second wedding has brought up difficult emotions for Kayley, who said there is 'always that little devil on my shoulder' reminding her of past betrayal. However, she is choosing a dress that reflects her current confidence and prioritises practicality, such as ease of using the toilet.
The couple, who moved in together earlier this year, have over 150 guests on their wedding list. Kayley previously swore off romance for two years after her first fiancé, Kallum Norton, failed to show up on their wedding day.
