Jeremy Clarkson has disclosed that he was just 'days away' from a fatal heart attack, as revealed in the upcoming fifth series of Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video. The 66-year-old former Top Gear presenter opened up to co-star Kaleb Cooper about the harrowing health scare that left him hospitalised.
In the trailer for the new series, Clarkson is seen lying in a hospital bed connected to medical machines. He initially feared he was having a heart attack after experiencing pins and needles in his arm while scrolling on his phone. However, doctors confirmed it was not a heart attack but warned he was perilously close to one.
Clarkson explained to Cooper: 'It wasn't a heart attack. That was just coincidental. I was scrolling on my phone, if I hadn't been doing that I wouldn't have got pins and needles in my arm. And if I hadn't got pins and needles I wouldn't have thought, "Hang on, am I having a heart problem?"'
Further tests revealed severe coronary artery disease: one artery was totally blocked, another resembled 'something dangling from the roof of a cave', and a third had become so clogged it had to form branches. When Clarkson asked how close he was to a heart attack, the doctor replied: 'Days.'
Since the scare, Clarkson has provided an update, telling Heart Breakfast he is 'absolutely fine now' and has lost weight. He assured fans: 'Tickety-boo.' The new series of Clarkson's Farm promises to be the most emotionally charged yet, following his health ordeal.
