Jenny Mollen, the estranged wife of actor Jason Biggs, broke her silence on Monday, 11 days after the couple confirmed they were separating after 18 years of marriage. In a Substack essay titled 'Don't Tell Me What It Is,' the 46-year-old content creator admitted she has always struggled with the idea of being present, which may have contributed to the split.
'I was in a rush to grow up, a rush to graduate college, a rush to land a TV show, and a billboard outside my ex-boyfriend's apartment,' Mollen recalled. 'Everywhere I've ever been has felt a little temporary, like a waiting room I'm trapped in before an operation.'
The Arizona-born blonde realized that being 'middle-aged with ADHD' makes it 'impossible to appreciate anything while you're in it.' 'The highest highs of my life have all hit like pennies disappearing into a bottomless well,' she wrote. 'I'd wait—maybe a moment or two for the sound of something landing, but before it ever did, I was on to the next. Hoping that the next thing would finally be the one that cured me—the one that made me feel worthy and validated in a way that has always evaded me.'
Upcoming Trip and Co-Parenting
The New York Times bestselling author spent Monday packing for a trip to Italy to celebrate her 47th birthday this Saturday. 'I leave for Italy on Wednesday, which sounds soooo Eat, Pray, Love considering the current state of my life,' Mollen revealed. 'But I'm not going to find myself or sleep with some beautiful Italian stranger. I already have two half-Italians at home. I'm actually just going because a friend invited me to her birthday party. It also happens to be my birthday as well.'
The 48-year-old American Pie star will likely have custody of their two sons—Sid, 12, and Lazlo, eight—while she is abroad. 'They are very much connected,' a source told People on May 14 of the future co-parents. 'I have no doubt that they will remain on excellent terms.'
Behind the Split
On May 17, an insider exclusively told the Daily Mail that Biggs enjoyed a 'boost to his ego' following his 35-pound weight loss last year, but the stress of making his feature directorial debut, Untitled Home Invasion Romance, may have put a 'wedge' between the couple. The actors, who once hired an escort to join them in 2011, have not been publicly pictured together since attending the Artwalk NY benefit on November 4.
Mollen and the Actor Award winner reportedly met on a 'blind date' around the same time they co-starred in Howard Deutch's 2008 rom-com My Best Friend's Girl, which received poor reviews. They went on to co-star in Life Happens (2011), Amateur Night (2016), ABC's I Like You Just the Way I Am (2016), Netflix's Chelsea (2017), and TBS's Dinner and a Movie (2024).
Biggs is next scheduled to interview Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith during the Generation S.O.S. Annual Summer Celebration in Water Mill, New York on August 2. Mollen, who boasts 447,136 social media followers, continues to work as an influencer with paid partnerships for brands like Daxxify, Greenwich Street Aesthetics, Eva Joan, Eberjey, and Seamless.
