James Haskell has denied cheating on his ex-wife Chloe Madeley during an appearance on the E4 dating show Celebs Go Dating. The former rugby player, 41, was asked directly by relationship expert Anna Williamson if he had been unfaithful during his marriage to the personal trainer.
After a noticeable pause, Haskell replied: “No, no not all.” He admitted that his sporting career and subsequent work as a DJ had made him selfish, saying: “My sporting career was very selfish, lots of travel lots of work, and then I switched to being a DJ and travel and then there is work with that, and I probably needed to be more there for Chloe.”
Haskell and Madeley, 38, announced their split in 2023 after five years of marriage. They share a daughter, Bodhi, aged three. At the time, the couple described the separation as mutual and emphasised their commitment to co-parenting.
Speaking on the No Parental Guidance podcast, Madeley described the breakup as “the worst imaginable” but said they have since formed a strong friendship. “We’ve managed to come out the other side, very surprisingly to me more than anyone, having formed a completely new bond and a new relationship and a new friendship,” she said.
The new series of Celebs Go Dating will reportedly explore polyamory and throuples, according to Anna Williamson. She told the Daily Star: “We definitely explore polyamory this series. It’s something that more people are curious about in dating now, but it has to be approached properly.”
