Man Charged with Murder of Actor James Handy in Los Angeles Stabbing

A 44-year-old man has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of veteran character actor James Handy, 81, outside his home in Los Angeles. The suspect, Michael Gledhill, is alleged to have stabbed Handy, who was in a relationship with Gledhill's mother.

Police responded to a 911 call on Wednesday in which the caller stated: 'I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.' Officers found Handy with a stab wound to the chest and unconscious. He was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead.

Gledhill did not appear at his arraignment on Friday at Los Angeles Superior Court, and no plea was entered. Judge John H Reid ordered that Gledhill be sent to mental health court for psychological evaluations to determine his competency for trial. Bail was set at $2 million.
