Former I'm A Celebrity and X Factor star Jake Quickenden has spoken publicly about his separation from wife Sophie Church after four years of marriage. The couple, who began dating in 2018 and got engaged in Greece in 2021, married in 2022 and have two children together, Leo and Kit. Sophie also has a son, Freddie, from a previous relationship.
In a statement on Instagram, Jake revealed that the split had been ongoing for a few months and that they had tried to keep it private to process the end of their marriage. He said: 'Me and Sophie have unfortunately separated. It’s been a few months now, tried to keep it private for us to come to terms with it and navigate it properly, while it also involves our beautiful children.'
Jake explained that the couple grew apart and that he found it 'hard to function' in the final months of their relationship. He praised Sophie as 'an amazing person and mother' and said he wants her to succeed in everything she does. 'Unfortunately as a couple we just grew apart and it became hard to function together,' he wrote. 'I hope we both find our happiness.'
The singer and TV personality said his focus is now on co-parenting their children in a healthy way. 'When the dust settles we will be popping round to each others for a brew to chat about the kids,' he added. He described the past few months as 'tough' and asked the public to be kind to both parties.
