Over 170 complaints have been made to Ofcom regarding an alleged bullying incident on I'm A Celebrity... South Africa. The broadcasting watchdog confirmed the complaints relate to the behaviour of former boxer David Haye towards actor Adam Thomas.
The row erupted after Thomas broke a camp rule by smuggling chocolate to the rival Lions team. When discovered, the entire group lost two food stars, reducing their meal portions. Haye suggested Thomas should take a smaller portion, causing discomfort among campmates.
Thomas, who suffers from psoriatic arthritis, said he felt unwell and requested to sit out a Bushtucker Trial. Haye reportedly called him "useless" and said he "doesn't like men like that", leaving viewers and fellow campmates angry.
After watching the scenes back, Thomas wrote on Instagram: "Not going to lie, this picture breaks my heart... my time in I'm a Celebrity South Africa was one of the toughest things I've ever been through." He added: "Living with arthritis is something I don't really talk about... but in there it really took its toll."
Haye has not yet commented publicly. I'm A Celebrity... South Africa airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm.
