Hunter Biden, the 55-year-old son of former President Joe Biden, has launched a foul-mouthed tirade against actor George Clooney, blaming him for pushing his father out of the 2024 presidential race. In an interview with independent journalist Andrew Callaghan, the younger Biden unleashed a stream of expletives directed at Clooney, who had publicly called for Joe Biden to step aside after a disastrous debate performance.
“F*** you. What do you have to do with f***ing anything?” Hunter Biden said of the Hollywood star. “Why do I have to f***ing listen to you? What right do you have to step on a man who’s given 52 years of his f***ing life to the service of this country?” He also questioned Clooney’s acting ability, agreeing with director Quentin Tarantino that “George Clooney is not a f***ing actor. He’s a brand.”
Hunter Biden claimed that the division within the Democratic Party, exacerbated by calls for his father to drop out, handed the election to Donald Trump. He attributed his father’s poor debate performance to fatigue and the use of Ambien to sleep during foreign trips. “He flew around the world… he’s 81 years old, he’s tired as s***, they give him Ambien… he gets up on the stage and he looks like a deer in the headlights,” he said.
The younger Biden repeated his criticism in a second, more restrained interview with former Democratic Party chair Jaime Harrison, stating: “We lost the last election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party.” Clooney had penned a New York Times op-ed titled “I Love Joe Biden, But We Need a New Nominee,” which was part of a wave of pressure that led to Joe Biden’s exit from the race in July 2024.
Hunter Biden’s own legal troubles, including convictions on tax and gun charges, were a significant burden on his father’s campaign. Joe Biden initially denied plans to pardon his son but later did so, drawing criticism from detractors who argued Hunter received lenient treatment.
