Former How I Met Your Mother actor Nick Pasqual has been sentenced to 32 years to life in prison for a brutal attack on his estranged girlfriend, makeup artist Allie Shehorn. The 36-year-old was convicted of attempted murder, rape, burglary, and domestic violence offences following the May 2024 assault at Shehorn's California home.
Prosecutors said Pasqual broke into Shehorn's home and stabbed her more than 20 times before fleeing to Mexico. He was arrested at a US Border Patrol checkpoint in Texas. Shehorn survived and testified, bearing visible scars on her neck and arms. She told the court: 'I locked the door, and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open.'
Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman praised Shehorn's courage, stating: 'Today's 32 years to life sentence holds Nick Pasqual accountable for the horrific crimes he committed against someone who once loved and trusted him.' Pasqual released a statement saying he remains focused on 'sobriety, recovery, accountability, and a respectful appellate process'.
Shehorn had previously obtained a restraining order against Pasqual after alleged earlier abuse. Friends launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover her medical bills, as she suffered catastrophic injuries requiring breathing and feeding tubes. She told the Daily Mail: 'I just hope that there's justice served. People should know that this shouldn't happen, and he can't get away with it.'
Pasqual's acting credits include How I Met Your Mother, Jobs, and Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire. The case has drawn widespread attention due to the horrifying details of the assault.
