Prince Harry has "forced" King Charles into a "difficult position" after "smashing" the Royal Family's circle of trust, a leading royal expert has claimed. Rebecca English, royal editor at the Daily Mail, made the statement during a special live edition of the publication's Palace Confidential podcast.
Expert Details Betrayal of Family Intimacies
Guests on the show were asked about Harry's forthcoming visit to the UK to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games. English said sources had told her the monarch felt "forced" into meeting his son the last time they met, at Clarence House in September last year.
She told the podcast: "He's not a bad man. He's not an uncaring man. He loves his son. But his son has put him in a very, very difficult position. He has betrayed a lot of family intimacies. I don't want to use the word 'secrets', but it's certainly intimacies."
Circle of Trust Broken
English added: "There's a very small circle of people [the Royal Family] can trust and once you're in that circle of trust you remain in [it]. And Harry has smashed that with a hammer."
The Duke of Sussex made a series of allegations against members of his family in his memoir, Spare. These included a claim that Charles did not hug Harry when Princess Diana died.
