Hannah Murray Hospitalised After Wellness Cult Ordeal

Game of Thrones and Skins star Hannah Murray has disclosed that she was hospitalised for 28 days under the Mental Health Act after experiencing a psychotic breakdown, which she attributes to being drawn into a wellness cult.

The Beginning of the Ordeal

Murray was introduced to an 'energy healer' named Grace in 2016 while filming the movie Detroit. The healer exploited Murray's vulnerability following a nude scene, causing her to overlook early warning signs about Grace's claims.

Financial and Emotional Exploitation

Subsequently, Murray paid £700 to another individual, Sioban, for courses including Ritual Master Novice, Apprentice, and Magus Hermeticus. She became addicted to the promise of healing from past traumas.

Mental Breakdown

After attending a five-day course led by a figure named Steve, Murray became exhausted and erratic. This culminated in a mental break where she experienced hallucinations and heard voices, leading to her hospitalisation.

Memoir and Warning

Murray's new memoir, The Make-Believe, set for release in summer 2026, details this 'deeply personal story' about the 'lure' of organisations promising wellness and preying on vulnerabilities. She hopes her experience serves as a warning to others.
