Taskmaster star Guz Khan confirms his car show cancelled
Guz Khan's Custom Cars show cancelled after one series

Comedian and actor Guz Khan, best known for appearing on Channel 4's Taskmaster in 2021, has confirmed that his own television series has been axed. The show, Guz Khan's Custom Cars, aired on Quest earlier this year but will not be returning for a second season.

No second series for Guz Khan's Custom Cars

According to reports, Khan broke the news during an appearance on Ed Gamble and Matthew Crosby's Radio X show. He stated simply: "They did not renew a season two." The comedian added philosophically: "These things happen." Khan finished third in his series of Taskmaster, behind runner-up Desiree Burch and winner Alan Davies.

What was the show about?

The series, which comprised eight episodes, followed Khan as he ventured into the world of car modification. With no mechanical experience, he enlisted the help of his best friend Lumboo and mechanic Darryn, visiting car meets and learning from passionate modifiers while building his own custom vehicle.

Despite its cancellation, the show garnered a positive reception from viewers. One fan posted on X: "I was pleasantly surprised... it is actually a good show full of 'Car Nuts'." Another commented: "This was great!" adding that Khan, also known for Man Like Mobeen, The Last Leg, and The Russell Howard Hour, was "hilarious" in the series.

A third viewer remarked: "Sooo not my thing... However, found it quite amusing, he doesn't take anything too seriously." Another said: "Went in with low expectations but thought it was corny but alright tbh."

On IMDb, one reviewer noted: "Let's be honest... no-one expected much from this, but despite that it IS an enjoyable watch. Provided you're not a purist about cars, it's in the title 'custom cars'." They added: "Is there some moments that miss the mark of humour if you have any idea about cars? Yes. Is it still funny as a whole package? Yes."

Quest has been approached for comment regarding the show's future.
