Good Morning Britain has received 85 complaints to Ofcom following a fiery interview between presenter Ed Balls and Green Party leader Zack Polanski. The watchdog confirmed the complaints, which alleged bias during the Monday broadcast.
The interview descended into chaos as Balls and Polanski clashed repeatedly. Polanski accused Balls of being a Labour politician, referencing his past as an MP and his marriage to former Home Secretary Yvette Cooper. Balls retorted that Polanski was using 'elaborate devices' to avoid questions.
Viewers branded the exchange a 'car crash' on social media. ITV later denied reports that Balls was under pressure to be axed, stating he remains a 'valued member' of the presenting team.
This incident follows a previous controversy where Balls interviewed his wife, Yvette Cooper, prompting over 16,000 complaints. Ofcom did not pursue those complaints, and ITV said it would not repeat the scenario.
