Gladiators Star Giant Slams BBC Over 'Archaic' Axing After OnlyFans Romance

Gladiators star Giant, real name Jamie Bigg, has criticised the BBC for what he describes as an “archaic” decision to drop him from the show after he revealed his relationship with an OnlyFans model.

The former professional bodybuilder and firefighter claimed he was axed from the reboot of the hit 1990s programme after telling bosses he planned to make details of his romantic life public. He said concealing the truth about his partner’s job would “not align” with his values.

Speaking to The Independent, Bigg said: “It wasn’t something I expected, especially given the commitment I’ve shown to the role. I’ve always taken being in the public eye seriously, and I believe being a role model is about honesty as well as professionalism. For me, that means not hiding parts of who I am or the people I care about.”

In an interview with Metro.co.uk, he added: “I think some organisations have some archaic views.” Bigg described his girlfriend Taylor Ryan as “an incredible person”, noting that her OnlyFans presence is a small part of her life and that she also raises awareness for charities. He said he has “huge respect for everything she does” and is “proud to stand by her”.

A spokesperson for the BBC and Hungry Bear, the show’s producer, said: “After three formidable series, Giant is leaving Gladiators. We’d like to thank him for everything he has contributed to the show and wish him well for the future.” The Gladiators official Instagram page confirmed his departure with a tribute, calling him “a true giant, not just in strength, but also in spirit”.

Bigg expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating: “I’m grateful to the BBC and everyone involved in the show for the opportunity and the experiences I’ve had. Now, my focus is on the future. I’m excited for what’s next and ready to move into a new chapter, both personally and professionally.”
