New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch has denied ever visiting Jeffrey Epstein's island, after his name appeared hundreds of times in documents released by the US Justice Department. In a statement, Tisch acknowledged a brief association with the disgraced financier, describing an exchange of emails about adult women, as well as discussions on movies, philanthropy and investments.
“I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island,” Tisch said. “As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with.” The 76-year-old, who won an Academy Award for producing Forrest Gump, has never been charged with any crime connected to the investigation.
The documents, spanning 3 million pages, were disclosed under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which requires the government to open its files on Epstein and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell. Epstein killed himself in a New York jail cell in August 2019, a month after being indicted on federal sex trafficking charges.
Tisch, who serves as chairman and executive vice president of the Giants, has been involved with the NFL franchise since his father purchased 50% of it in 1991. His statement came as the team prepares for the upcoming draft, which he is expected to attend.
