Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has met with US Department of Justice officials, including Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, in Tallahassee, Florida. The meeting comes amid growing pressure on the Trump administration to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation.
Maxwell's lawyer, David Markus, stated that his client answered every question truthfully and did not invoke any privilege. Blanche is scheduled to meet with Maxwell again on Friday. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking and other crimes at a federal prison in Florida.
The meeting follows reports that Donald Trump was informed by Attorney General Pam Bondi that his name appears multiple times in Justice Department files related to Epstein. Trump's spokesperson denied the claims, stating that Trump had previously distanced himself from Epstein.
Maxwell's brother, Ian Maxwell, told the New York Post that his sister had prepared new evidence that was not available during her 2021 trial. Meanwhile, Epstein's brother, Mark Epstein, suggested that Jeffrey Epstein had claimed to have damaging information about Trump.
The Justice Department has faced criticism for not releasing additional Epstein documents despite earlier promises. The House oversight committee voted to subpoena the department for the files, with bipartisan support.
