Jackie O Denies Quitting After On-Air Clash with Kyle Sandilands

Jackie 'O' Henderson has issued a statement denying she resigned from the Kyle and Jackie O Show, contradicting her employer's account. The breakfast radio host said she is 'deeply saddened' by the events that may end the show, which she called a shock.

Henderson's statement follows the Australian Radio Network's (ARN) announcement that she had given notice she could not work with Kyle Sandilands, leading to contract termination. ARN also accused Sandilands of 'serious misconduct' and suspended him for 14 days.

The dispute began when Sandilands mocked Henderson's interest in astrology on air, accusing her of being 'unfocused' and not doing her job. Henderson became emotional, saying she would never attack him like that, and did not return to work the following week.

Henderson indicated she may take legal action, alleging 'widespread misinformation' about her departure. She said, 'I did not quit or resign,' and thanked supporters during this challenging time.

Both hosts signed record $100m contracts in 2023 for a decade of shows. Sandilands remains under contract but must remedy his alleged breach or face termination. The broadcaster also faces regulatory action over previous offensive content.
