Gemma Collins has revealed that there is "stuff going on behind the scenes" among the cast of I'm A Celebrity...South Africa. The former TOWIE star, 45, who did not make it to the final of the spin-off show, has spoken out about the drama unfolding between Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas and boxer David Haye.
Adam Thomas's Health Struggles
Adam Thomas has been open about his arthritis, an autoimmune disease that causes significant pain. He explained: "It is an autoimmune disease. Basically means my immune system is attacking my own body. It causes a s**t-load of pain." However, David Haye accused him of using his condition to avoid participating in trials and challenges.
David Haye's Accusations
During an appearance on Thursday's This Morning, David Haye doubled down on his opinions, claiming that Adam was "playing the victim card" and that the "truth will out" eventually. He also predicted that Adam would win the show, saying: "He can milk it, and he'll probably win it off the strength of all the old biddies going 'Oh, poor Adam!' That's the narrative, it's a TV show, they cut it how they want to cut it."
Gemma Collins's Plea
Just hours after David's interview aired, Gemma took to Instagram to reveal that a "very upset" Adam had contacted her. She begged her followers to vote for him in Friday's live final. She wrote: "In the grand adventure of life, my best friend Adam is facing some mighty headwinds—forces that would rather see him stumble. But we are the wind in his sails! Let's all stand tall behind him, a cheering chorus, and ensure he strides to victory. Adam, you're not alone. She added: "There's stuff going on behind the scenes and Adam called me very upset this morning! Adam was a CHAMP TILL THE END. Pure will always win. GOOD PEOPLE WIN IN LIFE. PLEASE VOTE FOR ADAM !!!! If you are going to vote for Adam let's hear it all below !!!"
Adam's Emotional Account
Adam, known for his role as Adam Barton in Emmerdale, recently became emotional while recounting his ordeal on the At Home With The Thomas Bros podcast with his brothers Ryan and Scott. He said: "I did want to be there and there were elements of that experience where I was having an amazing time and I was loving every minute and every moment of it. And you know, I got to meet some amazing people in there. But, I found it so tough. When I did it 10 years ago, I was in a completely different mindset. That was the worst thing for me, I was expecting it to be like the first time that I did it and I was like 'What is going on here?'"
He continued: "I think in a different environment, you know, on the outside, if this happened to you, you'd go, 'Oh, right. Okay, he doesn't like me. I'm just going to leave the situation.' But there's nowhere to hide. I said to my therapist, I was like, 'Why did I never like stick up for myself?' and it was because I was always putting other people's feelings first before mine. I didn't want to bring any attention to it. I was gonna cause drama in camp and dampen everyone's spirits so I just took it and took it and took it. It got to a point where I was like 'I am at breaking point here.'"
