Gemma Atkinson has made a bombshell statement about her future with Gorka Marquez, declaring there is 'no chance' she will ever marry him. The couple, who met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and share daughter Mia, six, and son Thiago, two, discussed their relationship on their podcast, Lost In Translation.
Last week, Gemma, who has been engaged to the Spanish dancer for five years, admitted she didn't always see eye to eye with Gorka, whom she accused of being 'overly obsessive' about housework. However, now she has said that she does not ever want to marry her partner, stating: 'I ain't getting married to him. No chance.'
Seemingly unfazed by the comment, Gorka looks like he is also in zero rush to waltz down the aisle, as he replied: 'I don't think I want to get married.'
Gemma's Views on Marriage
'Everyone I know who has got married has ended up getting divorced, apart from my sister,' Gemma stated. Claiming marriage was 'just for a legal thing', Gorka continued: 'We are fine like this, we have two children, marriage is just a document, for a legal thing.'
'You see people together for 15, 20 years, they get married then divorced one year after.' Gemma admitted she had considered marriage only for their children, saying: 'My mum was saying to me the other day, when it comes to my will, she was saying how much more complicated it is.'
'But I don't want anything from you,' replied a baffled Gorka. 'It's not about you, you idiot, it's about the kids. I need to put it in a will,' Gorka retorted.
Relationship Honesty
Gorka then joked: 'When I die I won't have anything, I spend everything. Nothing to you, nothing to the kids.' Gemma spoke with refreshing honesty about her relationship on the couple's podcast last week.
Admitting her husband had frustrated her when he came back from a trip to New York, Gemma shared: 'Gorka came back from New York, [addressing Gorka]: You might not have seen yourself doing this...'
'I moan about everything,' Gorka began, before Gemma interjected: 'No... You walked around the house like an inspector doing a check on a tenant. You were literally doing this [mimes Gorka checking the house]. Then I went upstairs, and I heard you say: I've been away for one week, and you take my shelf.'
'And then it dawned on me, Mia and Thiago were playing, rearranging. They were playing shops - and I thought: Oh, bless them. They've not put stuff back.'
'And as I was walking up the stairs, I mumbled to myself, thinking... I thought: Shut the f*** up Gorka and I just stomped upstairs.' Looking at her husband, she added: 'You might have heard me.'
