Gemma Atkinson has declared there is 'no chance' she will marry her long-term partner Gorka Marquez. The couple, who met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and have two children, made the revelation on their podcast Lost In Translation.
Atkinson, who has been engaged to the Spanish dancer for five years, stated: 'I ain't getting married to him. No chance.' Marquez appeared equally unenthusiastic, replying: 'I don't think I want to get married.'
The actress cited the high divorce rate among couples she knows as a reason, saying: 'Everyone I know who has got married has ended up getting divorced, apart from my sister.' Marquez added that marriage is 'just for a legal thing' and noted that some couples divorce shortly after tying the knot.
Atkinson admitted she had considered marriage for the sake of their children, particularly regarding wills and inheritance. However, Marquez joked that he would spend all his money before dying, leaving nothing for the family.
The couple also discussed Marquez's obsessive cleaning habits, with Atkinson recalling how he inspected the house like a landlord after returning from a trip to New York. She admitted muttering under her breath: 'Shut the f*** up Gorka.'
