BBC Sport presenter Gabby Logan has spoken of her devastation after her daughter Lois revealed she was bullied at school. The 53-year-old described a heartbreaking moment when Lois, then aged 11, asked a group of girls which peers to avoid, only to be told they themselves were the troublesome group.
Speaking on her Mid.Point podcast, Logan said Lois had experienced bullying when she was younger, making her hyper-aware of social dynamics. 'As a parent I had no idea until she came home and told me what was going on, which is also devastating,' she said. 'Any parent who has had a child in those situations knows that feeling.'
Child psychologist Tara Proctor, also on the podcast, advised parents to listen and empathise rather than rushing to give advice. She noted that children often fear their parents will 'make a fuss', but said intervention may be necessary for chronic bullying.
Logan shares twins Lois and Reuben with husband Kenny Logan. Earlier this year, she paid tribute to her father, former Wales footballer Terry Yorath, who died aged 75.
