Faye Brookes has sparked speculation about a possible return to Coronation Street after sharing a cryptic social media post. The actress, 38, played Kate Connor on the ITV soap from 2015 until 2019, leaving after her character's partner Rana Habeeb died in the Underworld factory roof collapse.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Brookes told fans she was starting a new job on Monday but could not yet reveal details. She said: 'It's a role I didn't anticipate, which means I'm even more excited and scared at the same time. It's a whole new chapter.' The former Dancing on Ice star added that she would be in London until July and urged followers to 'watch this space'.
Brookes also mentioned she would be visiting Manchester, where Coronation Street is filmed, in the coming days, but clarified it was to see her parents. Fans were quick to speculate, with one commenting: 'Faye come back to Corrie street!' and another asking: 'Is it EastEnders Faye?'
Speaking previously to The Express, Brookes left the door open for a return, noting that her character did not die and that 'those doors left open'. She added: 'I think going back...yes, that door is open, [and] if that is in my journey, great.'
