A couple from mid-Wales have defied odds of more than 24 trillion to one to win the national lottery jackpot for the second time. Richard Davies, 49, and Faye Stevenson-Davies, 43, first won £1m in June 2018 through the EuroMillions millionaire maker.
Their latest win came in the Lotto draw on 26 November, when they matched five main numbers and the bonus ball. The couple attributed their success to a chain of Lucky Dips triggered by matching two numbers in previous draws. “It came to us through a series of four consecutive Lotto draws,” Richard explained.
Faye said: “We knew the odds of it happening again were outrageous, but we’re proof that if you believe, anything is possible.” According to Allwyn, the lottery operator, the probability of the same couple winning both prizes is more than 24 trillion to one.
Despite their renewed fortune, the couple remain community-focused. Richard, a former hairdresser, now volunteers at a homeless shelter in Cardiff and works as a delivery driver. Faye, an ex-nurse, volunteers as a cook at a community kitchen and provides mental health counselling. She will be working on Christmas Day.
Reflecting on their first win, Faye said: “We gifted people cars, donated a minibus to the local rugby team and did our best to help friends and family. This time around, who knows? We’re just going to take our time and enjoy the moment.”
