Jimmy Fallon will not air a new episode of 'The Tonight Show' on May 21, the date of Stephen Colbert's final 'Late Show' on CBS. Instead, NBC will broadcast a rerun, joining ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' in a show of solidarity to give Colbert's finale the largest possible audience.
Fallon and Kimmel, along with Seth Meyers and John Oliver, appeared on 'The Late Show' on Monday, reuniting as 'Strike Force Five'—a podcast they hosted during the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Proceeds from the podcast supported crew members of their shows who were unpaid during the production pause.
During the visit, Kimmel referenced his own suspension by Disney last autumn after comments about Charlie Kirk. He noted the collective viewership of late-night shows, saying, 'We have a lot of shows. 30,000 people watching each one, and it adds up.' He joked about the lack of backlash against Paramount+ following Colbert's cancellation, quipping, 'Why aren’t people canceling Paramount+? Because you never had it in the first place?'
