Emails between Jeffrey Epstein and Peter Mandelson suggest the convicted sex offender supplied illegal drugs and arranged cosmetic procedures for the Labour grandee while he was serving in government. The correspondence, released by the US Department of Justice, shows Mandelson requesting Xanax, a Class C controlled substance in the UK, from Epstein in December 2009.
In one exchange, Epstein asks Mandelson, 'feeling bettter [sic]?' Mandelson responds: 'How will I get more triangles ?!' – 'triangles' understood to be a nickname for Xanax due to their shape. At the time, Epstein was under house arrest after serving 13 months for procuring an underage girl for prostitution.
Mandelson also asks for 'more niaspan', a prescription cholesterol drug, and adds: 'And triangles are all very well but you need someone to use them on…' Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre has previously stated she was given Xanax by doctors recommended by Epstein.
The emails also discuss arranging cosmetic injections for Mandelson ahead of an official trip to New York. Epstein suggests 'face and neck' on a Wednesday, and Mandelson asks: 'Do you think I should ??' The files do not clarify Epstein's precise role in the procedures.
Mandelson's links with Epstein have resurfaced as the government released files on his appointment as UK ambassador to the US. A new image shows Mandelson, Epstein, and Prince Andrew together. Lawyers for Mandelson have been contacted for comment.
