Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has hit out at 'sick' fake news claiming she is pregnant, just days after she opened up about her struggle to conceive. The 49-year-old actress, known for playing Mandy Dingle, shared an emotional video on Instagram slamming the 'clickbait' and AI-generated rumours.
During Tuesday's episode of Loose Women, Riley spoke candidly about her IVF journey and how she came to terms with not becoming a mother. She explained that she prioritised her career for years and, when she and partner Al tried for a baby, she discovered she couldn't fall pregnant. 'I would have given everything in my life to have had a child,' she said.
Riley detailed how IVF treatment took a toll on her wellbeing, leading Al to urge her to stop. 'Sometimes in life, it's not meant to be,' she reflected. Despite finding happiness in her family unit with her nephew and niece, she admitted there is always 'a little scuff' in her mind over not having children.
In her Instagram video, Riley expressed outrage at the fake pregnancy reports. 'I am 100% not pregnant,' she stated. 'What makes that even more sick? The fact that only this week on Loose Women I was talking about the fact that me and Al... we couldn't get pregnant.' She urged followers to verify news on social media before believing it.
Riley's character Mandy Dingle is currently away from Emmerdale, with her exit storyline coinciding with Riley's appearance on I'm A Celebrity last year.
