Emmerdale character Jimmy King is reportedly set to be killed off in a dramatic stunt later this year, ending his 22-year run on the soap. Actor Nick Miles, who has played the role since 2000, is said to be leaving the show, with his departure involving a fatal storyline.
Jimmy, who began as a ruthless businessman, evolved into a loveable family man and comic relief, married to Nicola and father to Angelica. His exit is expected to leave his on-screen family heartbroken, though ITV has not officially confirmed the news.
The plot may be linked to the return of Jimmy's ex-wife, Sadie King, played by Patsy Kensit, which was confirmed this week. Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: 'We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Patsy Kensit back... Sadie’s seductive demeanor, combined with her utterly ruthless nature, are set to deliver a spectacular and highly dramatic touch of class.'
A source told The Sun that ITV approached Kensit about returning once the decision for Miles to leave was made. They said: 'Once the decision was made that Nick would be leaving, the writers quickly realised his character wouldn’t abandon his wife and children so they had to kill him off.' The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment.
Sadie King originally left the Dales in 2006 after faking her death. Her reason for returning remains unclear, sparking fan theories that she may be working with Graham Foster to target Kim Tate.
