Coronation Street viewers believe they have identified the character who will be killed off in the soap's upcoming murder whodunnit. The ITV soap recently confirmed a murder plot involving five potential victims, with a new trailer showing each of them walking towards the undertaker's as owner George Shuttleworth places a question mark-shaped floral arrangement on a coffin.
The five characters at risk are Megan Walsh, Maggie Driscoll, Carl Webster, Theo Silverton and Jodie Ramsey. Fans now theorise that Carl Webster will be the one to die, with Theo Silverton as his killer. The theory stems from Carl discovering that Theo had killed vicar Billy Mayhew, leading fans to believe Theo will strike again to silence Carl.
Social media posts have fuelled the speculation, with one fan saying: 'Theo kills Carl,' and another adding: 'Think Theo kills Carl as knows about Billy.' A further comment read: 'It’s got a blue rose on it so maybe male over female. I think Carl confronts Theo and it’s Carl that dies.'
However, not all viewers agree. Some believe Megan Walsh could be the victim due to her recent baby storyline, while others point to Maggie Driscoll, noting a flower on the question mark that resembles one she wears in her hair. One fan posted: 'Megan as her storyline has run out, but I’d rather it was Theo!'
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X. The murder plot is expected to unfold later this month.
