Emmerdale fans are in for a dramatic week as Lydia Dingle becomes convinced her husband Sam is having an affair with Laurel Thomas. The misunderstanding stems from Kim Tate's suspicions, which she shares with Lydia after noticing Sam's frequent disappearances and a lie about his whereabouts.
Lydia, devastated by the accusation, witnesses Sam hugging Laurel in the pub and decides to confront him publicly. She accuses him of cheating in front of the entire village, leaving Sam reeling and Laurel mortified. The scene raises questions about the trust in Sam and Lydia's marriage.
However, viewers know the truth: Sam has been secretly learning to dance to impress Lydia, and Laurel's mystery new flame is actually Ross Barton. The only reason Sam spends time with Laurel is for dance lessons, a fact that remains hidden from Lydia.
Kim later regrets telling Lydia, as the accusation causes heartbreak and humiliation. The fallout could lead to a split for the popular couple, or force Laurel to confess that her secret lover is Ross, who has also been helping Sam with his dancing.
This storyline follows recent episodes where Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden mistakenly suspected Sam and Ross of being fire starters, only to find them dancing in a barn. The true culprit, Kyle Winchester, remains undiscovered by most.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
