EastEnders has brought back villain Eddie Knight, with fans insisting there is no redemption for the character. Eddie (Chris Fairbank) was released from prison for medical care after being diagnosed with lung cancer, prompting a call to his adoptive son George Knight's phone.
Eddie was jailed in 2024 for the murder of George's biological father, Henry Asare. George had been adopted from West Africa as part of a baby farming scheme, and when Henry came to the UK to find his son, Eddie and his racist associates beat him to death and disposed of his body in a canal. George witnessed the murder and later made a statement, leading to Eddie's imprisonment.
In Monday's episode (4 May), George's partner Nicola Mitchell answered Eddie's call and visited him in hospital. Eddie pleaded with Nicola to help him see George one last time before he dies, but fans were unsympathetic. One wrote: 'Hope Nicola tells him to shove it honestly.' Another said they wanted Eddie's death to be 'painful'.
Meanwhile, fans are speculating that Nicola's mother and sister Gemma could soon appear on the Square, after Nicola opened up about her family to Gina Knight. One viewer said: 'So Nicola's mum is still alive and they acknowledged her sister again...enough is enough oh bring them in.'
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
