The club's leadership, including CEO Tim Watsford, COO Ben Creagh, and head coach Dean Young, called the meeting themselves, acknowledging the need to address the fans' anger.
Fans Snap Up Forum Spots
Management sent an email last Friday at 1:04pm inviting fans to the forum. Within 39 minutes, a second email announced that capacity had been reached. This swift response highlights the intense demand from supporters eager to voice their concerns. Watsford expects a fiery encounter, stating, 'Absolutely. Our fans are up and about and rightly so. We might get a few curly ones (questions), but we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't front up.'
No Recording Allowed
The forum will be held in-house, with fans banned from filming. Watsford explained, 'We want to keep it very much in-house. That's the way we want to do it from an exclusivity perspective. I do like to speak transparently and openly, and there is trust there.' Children are not permitted, as the event is considered an adult forum.
Watsford Faces Tough Questions
Watsford acknowledged that recruitment policies will be a key topic, given media criticism. 'My job is to fix it. Fans want answers, they want to win, and I can't argue with that,' he said. The Dragons' losing streak extends to 13 matches, with 106 points conceded in their last two games against the Newcastle Knights and Sydney Roosters.
Dean Young's Culture Shift
Head coach Dean Young recently implemented eight-hour training days to change the club's culture. However, results have yet to improve. Watsford emphasized the need for transparency and communication, stating, 'We're driving change through all corners of the club. We're not where we need to be, and we know that.'
