Fans of Clarkson's Farm have been asking whether the restaurant at Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton is still open. The answer is no: the restaurant, which opened in July 2022 in a converted lambing barn, was forced to close permanently in January 2023 after just seven months.
The closure followed an enforcement notice from West Oxfordshire District Council, which stated that the restaurant's 'nature, scale and siting is unsustainable and incompatible with its open countryside location'. Jeremy Clarkson lodged an appeal, but it was unsuccessful. The council cited complaints from neighbours about heavy traffic disrupting the countryside.
However, the farm shop remains open, and the council granted permission to extend the car park. For those wanting to support Clarkson's business, The Farmer's Dog pub in Burford, a 25-minute drive away, is still operating as of June 2026. It serves local meat and produce, as well as Clarkson's own Hawkstone beer.
The Farmer's Dog also offers outdoor dining areas: The Farmer's Puppy serves al fresco burgers, lamb sandwiches, and breakfast baps, while The Farmer's Dough is a pizza van. On the farm itself, the Big View Café operates on a walk-in basis, serving breakfast baps, burgers, and Hawkstone beer.
Clarkson's Farm season 5 continues Wednesdays on Prime Video.
