Courtney Stodden, a former Celebrity Big Brother housemate, has revealed they needed brain scans after a freak accident left them bleeding profusely from the head. The 31-year-old model shared a distressing video on social media showing themselves covered in blood while being rushed to hospital.
Accident Details
In the video, Stodden explained they had dropped their phone and bent down quickly to pick it up, hitting their head on the edge of a counter. They tearfully told the camera: 'This is your reminder, when you drop something, don't bend down and quickly... don't bend and snap. I bended and snapped and tried to pick up the phone that I dropped and I busted my head open in public.'
The footage showed Stodden in a car, with blood covering their head and chest. They also filmed a fire truck passing by, saying: 'There goes the fire truck. They're like we're not dealing with you. But this is just a reminder. Be careful. Be careful you guys.'
Hospital Visit and Recovery
In the caption, Stodden wrote: 'Don't bend and snap... slow down. I dropped my phone, reached too fast, and hit the edge of a counter so hard my head split open. Blood everywhere... ended up in the ER getting it glued shut. Nothing glamorous about moving too fast just to grab something that doesn't matter. Slow down. Your body keeps the score.'
They later updated fans in the comments, stating: 'Got a CT scan, no brain bleed I'm okay just a hard hit... reminder to slow down. Life will literally make you if you don't.'
Background and Previous Fame
Stodden rose to fame at age 16 when they married actor Doug Hutchinson, then 51, in a controversial union that required parental consent due to California's legal age of 18. Two years later, they appeared on the 12th series of Celebrity Big Brother, which was won by Charlotte Crosby.
The couple divorced in 2020 after nine years of marriage, having separated in 2016. Following the divorce, Stodden spoke out about feeling 'taken advantage of' in the relationship. In an Instagram statement, they said: 'I look back at this picture and feel absolutely taken advantage of. I've been scared to even speak up about feeling groomed or being verbally abused during the almost 10 year marriage because I was a child and he was 50 when we married but I'm a woman now and it's time for me to put my big girl pants on and speak on this matter.'
Stodden, who came out as non-binary in 2021, added: 'I've felt completely trapped, manipulated and at times abandoned by adults. Growing up in such an environment — it became a lonely and dark place.'
Doug Hutchinson's Response
Hutchinson later addressed the marriage in an interview with Fox News, saying: 'I shot my career in the head for love. And in doing so, I lost my family and friends. I was suddenly on the Titanic and everyone was fleeing except for me and Courtney. Now, I have nothing to lose but, to tell the truth.' He also stated: 'I don't believe in living a life of regret. I think that every choice we make, we make them for a reason... I have absolutely no regrets in my life. My marriage to Courtney is not one of them. I regret none of it. It was a beautiful and powerful journey. A bittersweet journey with Courtney.'
