A correction has been published regarding an article on pain treatment disparities across ethnicities. The original piece, titled "How the pain gap lasts for a lifetime" (3 July, p14), incorrectly identified Prof Keisha Ray as the lead author of a 2016 Boston University study on pain-related care in emergency departments. In fact, Prof Ray was not the lead author, though she was quoted on the subject as a postdoctoral fellow with the McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at the time.
