Maria Connor is set to become increasingly suspicious of her husband Gary Windass on Coronation Street, believing he is having an affair with Sarah Platt. The suspicion comes after weeks of secretive behaviour between the former couple, who have been seen having private meetings and cryptic phone calls.
Next week, Maria tells Gary they need to talk, while Sarah learns from Todd Grimshaw that Maria thinks she has uncovered what is going on. Maria has already shared her suspicions with Fiz Brown and Izzy Armstrong, convinced that Gary is cheating with Sarah.
As the week progresses, Maria becomes more determined to find proof. She spots Gary and Sarah hugging after Gary tells Sarah they need to delete all their messages. Unaware that Maria is watching, the pair only deepen her suspicions.
Maria opens up to Fiz and Izzy about her belief that Gary is having an affair, but their reaction is unclear. Word reaches Todd, who is shocked and decides to inform Sarah of Maria's accusations.
Maria confronts Gary, suggesting they meet for a curry, but the meal does not resolve her doubts. Gary then surprises the family by booking a holiday, which Maria interprets as an attempt to appease his guilt. She tells Izzy she believes the holiday is a cover for his affair.
