Clive Owen, star of Our Yorkshire Farm, became emotional as he celebrated his 70th birthday in a recent episode of Our Farm Next Door. The farmer was presented with gifts from his daughters and former wife, Amanda Owen, marking the milestone with affection.
Reflecting on his birthday gifts, Clive said: 'Well, it was lovely for the girls to give me the sheep horns for my birthday. I'm using them for paperweights. Everyone needs a paperweight. And thank you for the coat, because I've been saying lately, I need a coat, haven't I?'
Addressing the camera, he expressed gratitude for his health and life journey: 'I'm very, very fortunate to still be well and still be doing things. Life has been great. I definitely feel privileged to have led the life, absolutely. It's such a strange thing, isn't it, to come out of a mining village in South Yorkshire and to end up here.'
Clive also spoke about the future of Ravenseat, his family farm, expressing hope that his children might take over. 'The most important thing in all of this is the kids. It would be lovely to think that some of the children would take over and farm here at Ravenseat. And it would be lovely if my great-grandchildren are here in 100 years, wouldn't it? But whether they will, who knows?'
This is not the first time Clive has discussed succession. In an earlier episode, he said: 'I am almost 70 now, so I have got to think about what comes next. It is something the family are discussing at the moment to see where the future lies for everyone. It is nice for me to pass on my shears.'
