Camilla Kerslake, the opera singer married to former England rugby captain and Strictly Come Dancing star Chris Robshaw, has opened up about their family life and her own career. The 37-year-old, who found fame after signing to Gary Barlow's Future Records, admits she has no plans to follow her husband onto the Strictly dance floor. 'I think I'd be rubbish,' she said. 'They say some people are triple threats; singing, acting and dancing… Well, I can sing. Can I act? Questionable. Can I dance? Definitely not.'
Kerslake was a regular in the Strictly audience last year, cheering on Robshaw, 39, before he and professional partner Nadiya Bychkova became the third couple eliminated. The pair first met when Kerslake sang the national anthem at England rugby matches. 'He was made captain a year into our relationship, and I think I sang two or three more times and then decided to sit down,' she recalled. 'I thought it was better for me to support him from the stands.'
The couple married in 2018 and have two sons: Wilding, five, and Hunter, one. Kerslake described balancing her singing career with motherhood as 'exhausting' but rewarding. 'You have to train like an athlete, so that's probably why Chris and I got on so well in the beginning,' she said. Now approaching 10 years of marriage, she expressed interest in renewing their vows, saying she fondly remembers her mother and stepfather's wedding when she was five.
Kerslake ruled out having more children, saying, 'I think I'm done. They say one is really nice… then going from one to two feels like going from one to 27! I think I'm happy with my little family of four. We're like a little square, with our dog in the middle.' She hopes to raise her sons to be 'emotionally intelligent and kind.'
Since retiring from rugby in 2022, Robshaw is home more often, which Kerslake embraces. 'I love him, and like having him around,' she said. 'It's nice he's not in pain all the time. He used to always be really sore, but now he and the boys can have a real wrestle – and we can have a proper cuddle.'
Kerslake also discussed her recent laser treatment, which she made public after being inspired by comedian Katherine Ryan's openness about cosmetic procedures. She admitted to having Botox and salmon sperm facials, and didn't rule out a facelift in the future. 'In 10 years, I'll probably have had a facelift,' she said.
