Cher Cuts Financial Support to Son Elijah Amid Conservatorship Battle

Cher has reportedly stopped providing financial support to her son, Elijah Blue Allman, according to new court documents. Elijah, 49, is seeking a reduction in spousal support payments to his estranged wife, Marieangela King, and claims in the filing that he no longer receives a 'recurring gift income' from his mother. He now receives only $10,000 per month from his father's trust, with the payments from Cher ceasing in August 2021.

Elijah is required to pay $6,500 per month to Marieangela, 38, whom he married in 2013. His attorneys have requested that this amount be reduced to $1,651 per month, alleging that Marieangela has 'made no efforts to become self-supporting'. The couple's divorce proceedings continue amid the financial dispute.

Cher and Elijah have had a strained relationship for decades. In a past interview, Cher described their bond as 'bizarre' and said they 'talk through osmosis'. In April 2026, Cher filed for conservatorship of her son for a second time, after dropping an initial claim in 2024. The filing alleged that Elijah has 'no concept of money' and is 'unable to manage his financial resources', spending any money he receives immediately on 'drugs, expensive hotels, and limousine transportation'. The request was denied on April 24 without prejudice.

Elijah's struggles with substance abuse have been public for years, beginning at age 11 and escalating to heroin and opiates. He has previously spoken about using drugs to escape his past, describing heroin as 'saving' him from suicidal thoughts. In December 2023, Cher filed for temporary conservatorship over his estate, which she voluntarily dismissed in September 2024 after a private agreement. In June 2025, Elijah was admitted to a medical facility following erratic behaviour, and in February 2026, he was arrested for trespassing and burglary in New Hampshire.
