Cher's son Elijah Blue Allman has stated that his famous mother is no longer providing him with financial support amid a family dispute that has led her to seek a conservatorship over his well-being.
Financial Changes Revealed in Court Filing
Lawyers for Allman, 49, detailed the shift in his income on Tuesday in a Los Angeles Superior Court filing concerning his financial support for estranged wife Marieangela King. Attorneys for Allman, the son of Cher, 79, and late rocker Gregg Allman, explained how his income had been halved, according to a legal filing reviewed by the Daily Mail.
Allman's legal team requested a reduction to the $6,500 monthly support payments he is currently ordered to pay King, citing Cher's decision to stop the $10,000 monthly allowance she had been giving him approximately five years ago. Since August 2021, Allman has not received any recurring gift income from his mother, who last month unsuccessfully attempted to place him in a temporary conservatorship following two arrests. Allman is currently at a New Hampshire psychiatric hospital after those incidents.
Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Cher and Allman's attorneys for further comment.
Income Sources and Support Calculations
Allman receives only $10,000 per month from the estate of his late father, who died in May 2017, his lawyers said. This amounts to about $6,790 after taxes. Allman's lawyers argued that the reduction in funds from the 'If I Could Turn Back Time' singer significantly decreased the estimated $20,000 income that King claimed Allman received.
They proposed that Allman should pay $1,651 in monthly support based on updated income figures. They noted that they assessed King a minimum wage income, as she has apparently made no efforts to become self-supporting since the couple separated in 2021.
Allman's legal team stated that he was never informed of the August 2025 court order requiring him to pay King the specified amount. King sent the legal documents to his mother's Malibu, California residence during a period when he was staying at a Joshua Tree, California Airbnb, his lawyers said.
Marriage and Legal Proceedings
Allman's lawyers said the couple initially married in 2013 and separated in 2021, with a court dismissing a divorce filing King had entered. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for July 17, according to court documents.
Cher's Concerns and Substance Abuse History
Lawyers for Cher, in a court filing reviewed by Daily Mail last month, stated that Allman has no concept of money, is unable to manage his financial resources, and is vulnerable to fraud or undue influence. Regarding his financial affairs alone, they claimed that Elijah spends any money he receives immediately and almost exclusively on drugs, expensive hotels, and limousine transportation.
Allman spoke candidly in 2014 with Entertainment Tonight about his history of substance abuse. He said he started using drugs around age 11, referring to marijuana and MDMA. He later became involved with heroin and opiates during a difficult period in his life, adding that he had some close calls and moments of feeling at the edge of mortality. He acknowledged that he knew his drug use was wrong and that he was very unsatisfied with life at that point.
Cher is also mother to son Chaz Bono, 57, from her marriage to the late Sonny Bono, who died at age 62 in January 1998 in a skiing accident.
