Charlotte Riley made a solo red carpet appearance at the Masters of the Universe UK premiere in Leicester Square, London, on Wednesday evening. The 44-year-old actress wore an all-black ensemble consisting of a silk skirt and a velvet blazer-style jacket with silver buttons, accessorised with a slicked-back bun and silver jewellery.
Riley plays Queen Marlena in the film, alongside Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam. The cast also includes Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Kristen Wiig and Idris Elba. The movie is directed by Travis Knight and is based on the Masters of the Universe franchise by Mattel.
Her appearance comes amid reports that her husband, Tom Hardy, may be leaving the Paramount+ series MobLand. According to Matthew Belloni, former Editorial Director of The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount opted not to pick up Hardy for a third season after clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser during production of season two.
Riley and Hardy met on the set of ITV's Wuthering Heights in 2009, where they played Cathy and Heathcliff. They married in 2014 at Château de Roussan in France and have two children. In a March interview with The Times, Riley recalled meeting Hardy, saying he made her 'a really decent cup of tea.'
The film's synopsis reads: 'After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor. To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies and embrace his true destiny as He-Man.'
