Britney Spears has checked into a rehabilitation facility for substance abuse, with her ex-husband Sam Asghari expressing support for her decision. The 44-year-old singer was arrested in March on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, with a mystery substance found in her car.
Asghari told TMZ: 'I think it's great (she's in rehab). I think anything that has anything to do with healing and great things and the person is in charge of that, then it's all good.' He also criticised the former conservatorship she was under, calling it a 'bulls*** move' that should be illegal.
The couple were married for 14 months before splitting in August 2023. Asghari is believed to have filed for divorce but has remained positive about their time together.
Britney's manager described the arrest as 'an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable', adding that she is 'going to take the right steps and comply with the law'. A source told TMZ that the singer made the decision to enter rehab with her upcoming court date on 4 May in mind, as it 'will look good in front of the judge'.
Her sons, Sean (20) and Jayden (19), have been 'strongly supportive' of her decision, having spent time with her before the arrest.
