Britney Spears' representative has refuted reports that the singer caused a disturbance at a Los Angeles restaurant on May 13, 2026. Witnesses had alleged that Spears was 'screaming' and 'barking' at guests, and that she walked past a table holding a knife.
In a statement to HELLO! on May 14, her rep insisted it was a 'quiet dinner' with her assistant and bodyguard. 'She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors. At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half,' the statement said.
The representative added: 'This constant attack on everything that she does ... this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now.'
Entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider posted on X that he was dining next to Spears at the Blue Dog Tavern and called it a 'WILD experience'. He wrote: 'She just left and everyone in the restaurant turned and started talking about it. An INSANE dining experience. One diner feared for her life.'
The incident comes two weeks after Spears was charged with drunk driving following a March incident. She pleaded guilty to a lesser charge on May 4, avoiding jail time. Her lawyer accepted a 'wet reckless' plea, with summary probation, a DUI class, and fines.
