Bonnie Tyler in Induced Coma After Bowel Surgery

Welsh singing legend Bonnie Tyler has been placed in an induced coma after her health took a turn for the worse following emergency bowel surgery in Portugal. The 74-year-old star, known for her iconic 1983 hit 'Total Eclipse of the Heart,' was rushed to Faro Hospital late last month with a perforated intestine.

Condition Deteriorates

According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha, Tyler had been stable until recently, but her condition worsened in the past few hours. She is now unconscious and breathing with the aid of a ventilator in the intensive care unit. The newspaper reported that doctors are unable to predict how her condition will evolve in the coming hours.

Tyler was admitted to hospital on April 30 and underwent emergency intestinal surgery. A spokesman had previously stated that the surgery went well and she was recuperating. However, the latest reports indicate a serious decline.

Career and Personal Life

Bonnie Tyler rose to fame in the 1980s with her No. 1 hit 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' and other top ten singles like 'It's a Heartache' and 'Holding Out for a Hero.' She represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, finishing 19th with 'Believe in Me.' Tyler has been married to property developer Robert Sullivan since 1973.

Despite her age, Tyler had expressed no plans to retire. In a recent interview, she said, 'I'm quite fit for my age, thank God. And I'm never going to retire. I look at Tom Jones. He's amazing.' She also admitted to regular Botox injections but remained active in her career.
