The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) on Wednesday withdrew its non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh, following his legal challenge. FWICE president B.N. Tiwari said the decision came after intervention by the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA), the Producers Guild of India, and the Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA). Tiwari stated, 'We have been told that we should all sit together with the producers' body and take an appropriate decision where neither the producers and directors nor the actor face any issues.' He added, 'No one has won or lost in this matter.'
The underlying financial dispute between Singh and Excel Entertainment, the production company behind the 'Don' franchise, remains unresolved. The conflict began when Singh walked away from 'Don 3' in December 2025, just weeks before filming was due to start. The dispute centres on a damages claim of approximately INR45 crore ($4.7 million) and conflicting accounts of why the collaboration collapsed.
According to sources with direct knowledge of the mediation proceedings, the timeline reveals that while Excel shot a first look at its own expense in April 2023 and publicly announced Singh as the new Don in August 2023, the formal term sheet was not signed until August 2024. The long-form agreement was still being negotiated when Singh exited the project on December 20, 2025, after his film 'Dhurandhar' became a major box office success.
The mediation involved around 25 senior industry figures, including Salman Khan, though Singh did not attend earlier sessions. The FWICE had initially issued a non-cooperation directive against Singh, which has now been withdrawn. The dispute highlights ongoing tensions in Bollywood over contract negotiations and star power.
