Mary-Louise Parker has expressed her happiness for ex-partner Billy Crudup following his marriage to actress Naomi Watts earlier this month. In an interview with The Guardian published on Wednesday, Parker said she wishes the couple 'every happiness' as Crudup is the father of her son.
Parker, who dated Crudup for seven years from 1996, was left by him for Claire Danes while she was pregnant. Despite the past scandal, she told The Guardian: 'I honestly, of course, wish them every happiness because that’s my son’s father. I’m happy for them – I’m happy they found each other.'
The actress, known for roles in Angels in America and Weeds, previously addressed the break-up in her 2015 memoir Dear Mr You, describing it as 'one piece of a bigger story that is mostly beautiful.'
Claire Danes also reflected on the affair in a 2015 interview with Howard Stern, saying she was 'just in love with him and needed to explore that' at age 24, and that the ensuing backlash was 'a scary thing' but she and Crudup remain friends.
Crudup and Watts began their relationship in 2017 after Watts split from Liev Schreiber. Crudup, known for Almost Famous and The Morning Show, won an Emmy in 2020. Parker is currently promoting the audiobook Murder in Suburbia.
