Romeo and Brooklyn Beckham could be set for an awkward reunion at the Met Gala on Monday, amid the ongoing family feud. Romeo, 23, was in New York this weekend where he attended one of the pre-parties for the event, which is one of his brother Brooklyn's favourite events of the year.
Brooklyn, 27, has attended the Met Gala three times with his wife Nicola Peltz and once on his own. However, this year he may not be the only Beckham there. On Saturday night, Romeo was seen attending Teyana Taylor's star-studded pre-Met Gala celebration. He looked stylish in a black leather jacket and baggy jeans as he was seen flanked by security while leaving. It is not known if Brooklyn and Nicola are attending, and neither has posted on Instagram this weekend.
Family Tensions Continue
Expectedly, Brooklyn remained silent as his siblings rushed to social media to wish their father David a happy 51st birthday on Saturday. Back in January, the wannabe chef announced his disassociation from his famous family, declaring he was no longer part of 'Brand Beckham' and insisting his parents and their other children—Romeo, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14—are 'performative'.
In an apparent dig at Brooklyn, his siblings joined their mother Victoria to surprise David on his big day with a joint and very unlikely family gift: chickens. Taking to Instagram, Posh, 52, shared a clip of the former footballer as he met the birds for the first time and settled them into their coop on the grounds of the family's £15 million Cotswolds estate. In the sun-soaked video, David wore a cowboy hat as he removed his new feathery friends from their boxes with a huge smile on his face. From behind the camera, Victoria gushed: 'It's David's birthday and this is me and the kids bought him, from the boys, they're so pretty!' She captioned the post: 'Happy Birthday, we love you so much!!'
Romantic Tributes from Siblings
Romeo also took to Instagram with a sweet tribute, sharing two childhood snaps with his dad. He penned: 'Happy birthday dad, love you so much, thank u for everything you do,' and 'My best mate'. While David's youngest son Cruz shared two snaps to his Instagram Story showing him and his dad on a yacht as he wrote 'Happy birthday I love you xxx.' Harper followed her brothers with a sweet post which read: 'Happy birthday to the best daddy in the whole world. I honestly could never ask for a better role model too, you are always here for me and I will always be here for you too anytime anywhere have the best day ever, you deserve everything'.
David was previously gifted chickens as a Christmas present by his wife before setting up a hen pen for the new animals on their sprawling estate.
Victoria Addresses the Feud
It comes shortly after Victoria addressed the feud with Brooklyn directly for the first time after his explosive statement about their estrangement. She said: 'I think that we've always... We love our children so much. We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that's all I really want to say about it.'
David and Victoria haven't spoken to Brooklyn since last May, when he and Nicola snubbed the former footballer's 50th birthday celebrations. Brooklyn and Nicola's lawyers wrote to the Beckhams' legal team demanding that they only converse through them. Shortly before Christmas, Brooklyn blocked his parents on Instagram, and in January, he posted a brutal, bombshell six-page letter on the social media platform. He claimed David and Victoria controlled him for most of his life, tried to split him and Nicola up, and left him embarrassed when his mother danced 'inappropriately' with him during his first dance at his wedding.
Speaking about all four of her children earlier in the interview, Victoria added that 'being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it's very different from having little children. I think that we're trying to do the best we can,' adding that the negative press in the past three months has not affected her fashion and beauty business. 'I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good. I don't think they're buying my eyeliner just because it's me,' she said.
