A sitting member of the New South Wales parliament has been suspended following allegations of indecent exposure during a virtual parliamentary session, in what opposition leaders are calling "one of the most disgraceful acts ever witnessed in the chamber".
The incident occurred during a video conference debate on Wednesday when the Liberal Party MP allegedly exposed himself to colleagues. Parliamentary officials confirmed an investigation is underway after multiple complaints were lodged.
Swift Parliamentary Response
Speaker Jonathan O'Dea took immediate action, suspending the MP from the legislative assembly. "Such behaviour has no place in our parliament," O'Dea stated. "We have strict codes of conduct that all members are expected to adhere to."
The scandal has sent shockwaves through Australian political circles, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese describing the incident as "completely unacceptable".
